Dear praying friends,
Our summer of camp has ended and fall has begun and it is time to catch up with all of you who have prayed so faithfully for God to work in lives. The Camp on Wheels summer involved two weeks of camp in Arizona and two weeks in Canada as we did last summer. With the start of the staff training week began a summer of intense spiritual battle.
Satan began with dangers from spooking horses and even a pair that ran away into the national forest. The next week: the refrigeration unit broke down, the main water well pump broke down, one of the counselors lost a brother to a car accident and had to fly home, the electricity went down, and the second well pump quit. (keeping Andy Kleeburger, our maintenance man, covered in mud while working in the pumphouse and in the water line trenches). At the end of Az. camp, our son Carey had an allergic reaction that required two trips to the ER and an overnight stay at the local hospital. While on the way to Canada the trailer cracked three rims (of course at different times), While crossing the border, the entire camp staff had to stop and go in to Canadian immigration to answer questions and have passports checked. This had never happened before. Yet while Satan was attacking on every front, the response to the preaching and counseling was more that we could have hoped for. There were around 18 decisions for salvation. For some of these young people, camp was their first experience of hearing the gospel. There were some who left at the end of the first week of camp and decided to come back the very next week! We also had a wonderful time with our 10/45 leadership program. Several of these young people showed a desire to serve others and grow closer to the Lord. Some have even expressed a desire to come back next summer to work on staff.
Back at Living Waters, Ken Webb and his wife Tina stayed at our home during camp and helped with the services and visiting the folks. This was their third year to help with the ministry in Sanders while camp was going on. The Lord has really used them to balance the work between church and camp.
Since the end of camp Kathy has returned to work as the school nurse in Sanders. Randy is continuing the work as pastor and camp director. The church is doing well, with attendance up since the beginning of the summer. Tamar Baloo, one of the young ladies from the church that also worked as a counselor for the last three summers, is now at BJU as a nursing major. Stuart and Rachel Noggle have been a tremendous help and a great source of sweet fellowship. Stuart just started a youth group this last Sunday evening. Pray that the young people will consistently attend and learn.
Away from home, Matt and Rachael are back at BJU for his continued work on his MDiv. Matt is in his third year as a dorm supervisor They will be coming back to Arizona in November for a camp board meeting. Carey is sitting out a semester while Tali finishes her BA in music. Carey is continuing to work on future music projects for the camp. We are also looking forward to seeing them in October as they come to help out with our first couples retreat. Randall is in his Jr year and changed his major to criminal justice. He now works as a hall leader in his dorm.
Pray as we have many decisions to make regarding the Lord’s will for property for the camp, much training and discipling at the church and much traveling to do while sharing our burdens for ministry
here. We love to hear from you and know you are praying. Thank you for all you do.
In His service,
Randy and Kathy Wilson
