Mike & Dawn Veldhuis ~ March 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

January and February Bible Conferences at Grace Baptist and Lighthouse Baptist churches of Corona and San Diego California set the stage for equally invigorating anniversary/revival meetings with Yuma’s Heritage Baptist and Maranatha Baptist churches in March.

Your prayers and gifts strengthened us for the extra demands of these meetings and saw us through family illnesses, spiritual battles with our tribal youth home leaders, criminal vandalism of our bus and building, and the idolatrous misuse of casino income.

THANK the Lord for blessing scores of trips to tribal headquarters and eight months of prayer with the return to church of 9-16 year olds Alexis, Carlos, Chauncey, Darnell, Ezequiel, and Ralph mid February 2008. PRAY for the spiritual and personal needs of these saved young people, as all of their parents and past foster parents are incarcerated or on parole. PRAY that their aunt Valerye will marry her boyfriend and be able to take in these children.

PRAISE the Lord with us for the following blessings you’ve made possible:

  • Good weekly Bible studies with Tannessa and Jessica in the Yuma County Detention Center.

  • Darren’s return to church after a lengthy stay in the Detention Center.

  • Evangelist Richard Zakrajsek’s help with building repairs, visitation and church services in February and March

  • Good air show and Bible study with church youth February 23, 2008.


   Cameron & Marlin

  • Marlin, a new adult’s, assurance of salvation and planned baptism.

  • Grace Baptist Churches (CA) support as of February, 2008.

  • Community Bible Baptist Churches support following our family’s March 9, 2008 meeting with them in Phoenix.

  • Michael’s brother, Stephen’s help March 20- April 28 to free Michael and possibly the family for mission meetings in four new churches April and May 2008.

  • Lydia’s recovery from bronchitis and new part time job.

YOUR PRAYERS mean so much to us. Thanks for also remembering:

  • Dawn and Silas’ recovery from the flu.

  • Bernice’s serious knee injury and overall health.

  • Lasting fruit through our March 23rd Resurrection service.

  • June 23-July 4 and July 6-11 camp and VBS expenses. The camp fees for 2008 are twice the amount of 2007.

  • Outstanding church van and bus repairs.

  • The means for our daughter, Lydia, to attend West Coast Baptist College, Lancaster, CA. beginning fall, 2008.

We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the role your prayers and gifts have in reaching the Cocopah people for our Lord.
