Hello from the cooling desert of Southern AZ!  We are enjoying the cooler temperatures, and are very thankful for this relief!  We are thankful for the rain we received during our monsoon season as well, though one church service in Ak-Chin had to be canceled due to flooding  (this usually happens a couple of times each year during the heavy monsoon rains).

We are so thankful for another opportunity to write you all once again and share with you some of the exciting things the Lord has been doing here!  We also want to thank you all for the immeasurable role you have in this ministry through your faithful prayers and support!  We are very grateful for each of you, and all you do for us and the Lord’s work here in AZ!

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” (I Cor 3:6-7)  We are very thankful for the opportunity to plant and to water, and so thankful for the increase the Lord blesses us with!

“God is faithful…” – I Corinthians 1:9  What a wonderful truth!  Thank God for His faithfulness in every area of our lives!  What a faithful God we serve!  Oh that we may be faithful to Him!

He has proven His faithfulness time and time again to our family here in AZ!  The past two months have been no exception.  We have much to thank Him for!

“This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” Surely the Lord has “overflowed our cup” these past two months with so many blessings.  It is so wonderful to get to labor in His field, planting some and watering some, and it is such a blessing when HE gives the increase! Surely the ones who plant and water are nothing, but HE is everything, and so deserving of our praise!  This letter will be a bit longer, but there is so much to tell!

Hello from the Tohono O’Odham Nation!  Summer has arrived once again, along with some very warm temperatures. We are thankful for the very busy, exciting past two months the Lord has blessed us with!

March and April were very busy and exciting months for us here in Arizona! We are thankful for all the Lord has allowed us to be involved in. Here are a few of the highlights.

March wrapped up one of the most wet winters we have experienced here in the desert! Because of the rain (and flooding & mud that follows), we were forced to cancel two services in Ak-Chin and one in Cockleburr. We are thankful for the rain, and thankful for the road work that has been done since, to help alleviate the problem. On a sad note from Ak-Chin, in April, a 30 year old young man hung himself. It is so sad to see this same story play out time after time – the drugs and alcohol lead to such a hopeless and dim life. Pray for us as we try to point them to the “Difference-maker!” We are thankful for the opportunity we had during April to take part in the Gu-Achi District Day festival, where we handed out over 400 tracts and other information from the church! Please pray that it will be used by the Lord! One of the ladies from the church in Ak-Chin has had recent back and neck surgery, and is also dealing with problems at home. Please pray for Mrs. Mary.

Greetings from the Tohono O’Odham Nation. We are excited to share many blessings and updates with you. The Lord has been so good to us during the past two months (and every other day of our lives, for that matter!)
We are very thankful to God and happy to announce the birth of our 5th child, Benjamin Deskins Shannon. He weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and was 19.5 inches long. We thank God for the safe pregnancy and delivery. Both mom and baby are doing well. We thank God for His protection over Benjamin, evidenced already during his first week with us, as we found him choking on his formula, and after rushing him to the FD and the ER, he was fine! It is during times like these that we are reminded and thankful for the prayers of so many who hold our family up in prayers. You may not know what’s going on in our lives, but God does, and we are thankful for your prayers and His protection!

Happy New Year from southern Arizona, and Tohono O’Odham Nation! “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Ps 90:12). May we each use this new year to do even more for Him Who has done so much for us!

What an exciting November & December the Lord has helped us through! First I’d like to mention Louann and the new baby she is carrying. They are doing well, but Louann has had quite a few problems with this one. Please continue to hold both of them up in your prayers over the next few weeks. The due date is the first week of March, and she has already experienced some pre-term contractions and other problems. We know our God is in control, and are resting and trusting in Him during this time!
