Don & Elaine Stephens ~ December 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends & Supporters,

We trust this finds you well as you serve the Lord there.

We have had a good fall. The church is doing well. Our attendance has been picking up with as many as 80 on some Sundays, but we average about 65. We had four people follow the Lord in baptism - a husband, wife & teenage daughter and another young girl.

We have started the Patch the Pirate clubs back up and we have some new children attending. They love Patch Club, and do a good job when they have their presentations.

We have also started our adult Bible class back up on Thursdays. We use the program from Bob Jones Univ. and are studying New Testament Survey this time. Fifteen adults are taking the class.

This is a busy time of year here. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving and are preparing for the annual Christmas program. We also take our children to minister at the nursing home.

I am pleased to report that in October the church licensed Beto Garza to preach the Gospel. He is the young man I feel can eventually take the work over here. We were able to visit some of our supporting churches in October, and Beto took over while we were away. He loves to study God’s Word and is a good preacher. He took the responsibility seriously and I felt comfortable leaving him in charge. Please pray for Beto and his wife Sonia.

Again, we thank each of you for your faithful support of the work here. You have a part in the lives of everyone we have been able to minister to, and we pray God will bless you for your help, your concern and for your prayers.

Philippians 1:3

In Christ,
