Dear Praying Friends,
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Psalms 90:2
What a great comfort to know that in uncertain times
God is still on the throne!
Ministry: Thank-you for your prayers regarding the special services with Evangelist Barry Webb in October. The Lord blessed each night of the meetings. We pray that the decisions made will have lasting results. It was a great time of spiritual refreshment for all of us.
We were given a number of DVDs entitled Native Hearts produced by Don Ross Ministries of Greenville, South Carolina. The DVD provides testimony of Native people on other reservations that are now living for the Lord. It has been shared with a number of people in our church and also viewed by men in the jail. Please pray the Lord would use this to bring souls to Christ.
The ladies' Bible study that Louise teaches continues twice a month with a small group of fairly consistent ladies who desire to grow spiritually.
November 15th was our annual Harvest Fellowship Dinner. It was an encouraging to see 10 Native folks come out for this event.
*We have been in the process of writing a tract on suicide. With the suicide rate at 3 times the national average here on the reservation, the printing of such material is greatly needed.
*Please pray for continued spiritual growth of Alvina, Starla, Virginia, and Orvin.
Etta is now in the nursing home. Please continue to pray for her salvation.
Please pray also for the salvation of Kenny, Eli, Stewart, Chuck, Jocelyn, and Jodene.
Family: Our family continues to stay busy and grateful for good health at this time. We have been taking advantage of the unseasonably nice weather to finish getting our wood supply in for the winter. Louise continues to oversee the homeschooling and ladies' Bible study. Emily enjoys working her part-time cleaning job at the West River Health Clinic in McLaughlin. Although Emily plans to begin college classes again next fall, she has presently been a tremendous help to Louise as a teacher's aid with the homeschooling and has faithfully taught the children's Sunday school class. Zachary made it back safely from the elk hunt. He got a shot off at a 5 X 5 elk but then it ran off and he never saw it again. He learned much from the experience and enjoyed the time in the great outdoors with other Christian men. His plane flights also provided a bit of excitement when he had to run through the Denver airport in just 4 minutes to make his connecting flight! Hannah continues to be our family prankster. She helps to maintain our 40 chickens and 2 geese. She also enjoys doing crafts like knitting, crocheting, soap making, and candle making in her spare time. Sharon remains busy caring for our sheep, goats, cow and 5 cats. Esther is staying busy with school but is also working on some sewing skills. Heidi just turned 5 years old on Thanksgiving Day. We enjoy her happy disposition and readiness to learn. The Lord saw fit to bless us with at least 3 bushels of apples. So Louise and Emily pulled out the recipes to prepare apple butter, applesauce, dried apples, cinnamon apples, apple pie, as well as the enclosed recipe.
Apple Bars
(Crust)
(Filling)
Combine crust ingredients. Divide into 2 balls. Roll out 1 ball of dough into a 15 X 11 inch greased jellyroll pan. Cover crust with crushed corn flakes. Combine sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Place on top of corn flakes. Roll out second ball of dough and cover apples. Cut off any extra crust. Brush with beaten egg white. Bake at 400 for 30 minutes or until brown and apples are cooked. Drizzle with glaze of 1 cup powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons lemon juice. Enjoy!
Thank you for you continued faithful prayers and support.
In Christ’s Service,
The Pikes
