Dear Prayer Partners,
February 2009 Since we did not get out a letter in January, we will try to get caught up this month. On December 28 and January 4, we were at Peach Springs Arizona on the Hualapai (wall-a-pie) Reservation filling the pulpit for Steve as they visited Sherry’s family for Christmas. It was so good to be with these folks. There is a good mix of ages and all are enthusiastic and desirous to study and learn. They were a blessing to us.
We took 5 days off during the middle of January with Gary and Beverly Messick, missionaries to the Yavapai/Apache, and went to Catalina Island to celebrate our birthdays as well as Beverly’s and their anniversary. It was a nice break for all of us and we came back very refreshed.
On the 26th of January we were with Jay Shannon in their a.m. service at the Tohono O’odham Baptist Church near Casa Grande then with Brian Shannon for their p.m. service in the little village of Ak-Chin. We mentioned in our December update our first visit with them when they had 50 in attendance. It is exciting to see this infant work and the growth already evident in the lives of these new Christians. We mentioned their need of water to the church property and that will be taken care of shortly. They should have it in by summer. Thank you for your prayers for this need.
David’s health continues to improve on a regular basis. He walks faster now and has more strength in his arms and legs than before. We are both so grateful for your faithful prayers on his behalf over the past year and a half.
This month plans are to finish the addition to Gilson Wash Baptist, at least as far as finances allow. The addition will include more Sunday School class rooms and church office and should be ample space for the foreseeable future.
Please be in prayer for: 3 new Christians taking discipleship classes. Ministry and travel plans this Spring and Summer. Continued healing for David.
In His love and ours,
Dave and Becky
