Dave and Becky DeFord ~ November 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                                                     November 2008 update

Last month in our update letter we asked that you be in prayer for two men, a young Navajo man and the young man saved in July waiting to be baptized. The Lord has worked in the young man’s heart that had earlier expressed his desire to be baptized. He has been faithful this past month in most all the services. Sometimes his work schedule keeps him away. We wanted to bring this to your attention to encourage your faithfulness in prayer for these folks. God wants our prayers, He delights in our prayers and He answers our prayers!

While cleaning and organizing files this past week we came across the very first prayer letter we had the privilege to write. A few of you will remember nearly 32 years ago we began on the Navajo Reservation with the address of Lukachukai, Arizona. The letter was produced on a mimeograph machine and has an obvious crease through the middle of the page which was not too uncommon for mimeograph.

Remembering some of the events that have transpired through the years was a nostalgic visit into the past blessings and trials the Lord has allowed to mold our lives and ministry.

Sometimes we are advantaged to look back in order to see where we are going. With a new pastor coming this next week to Gilson Wash Baptist Church and Steve assuming the responsibilities of directing the Independent Baptist Indian Mission we are looking forward to our next assignment in giving out the gospel, sharing the opportunities we see for ministry among the Native American people, and visiting with the IBIMI missionary families.

We are looking forward to traveling next year, hopefully to visit all our supporting churches and individuals as well as colleges presenting the opportunities and ministries of IBIMI. One recent R.(eservation) S.(ummer) V.(isitation) P.(rogram) participant made the statement that he enjoyed the program and the time he spent with his missionary but, he felt more people would take advantage of the program if they knew about it. We will be working toward that goal.

Please do remember to pray for: Clement Gilson Wash Baptist Church in transition to new pastor IBIMI in transition to new leadership Ministry and travel plans for next year.

In His love and ours,

Dave and Becky DeFord
