Dear Prayer Partners

We are deeply indebted to you faithful ones that pray for us regularly. We are reminded again of the necessity of those who stand with us in prayer.  September is the month we will remember as being without electricity.  Over Labor Day weekend we spent the annual church camp out at Point of Pines, between six and seven thousand feet elevation on the San Carlos Apache Reservation.  Upon our arrival we learned we had no electricity and that the water supply was limited.  Those facts did not deter a wonderful retreat time for the church folks with Evangelist Chuck Crabtree from Denver.  We had wonderful meetings and with a bit of improvising managed three meals a day, a camp fire that lasted the entire weekend amidst some pretty terrific wind and rain, and the fellowship in the Lord that only He can supply.

The week following Labor Day we continued evangelistic meetings with Bro. Chuck at the church.  Although our attendance could have been better, we are seeing lasting results of the meetings among the church folk.  Bro. Chuck was a tremendous blessing and encouragement to the entire church.

The week immediately following the meetings, we left Arizona and drove to Atlanta to meet good friends, David and Joy Rozelle.  We left our car there and traveled with them to Ohio where we attended the Fellowship of Missions Conference.  We missed the meetings last year due to David’s illness and it was wonderful to again be with the old and new friends of FOM.  We were there for the tail end of hurricane Ike which resulted in power outages at our hotel.  That proved interesting to say the least, but we finally realized we could have limited light from our computer monitor.  We drove back to Atlanta, picked up our car and made our way to North Carolina to visit a day with our oldest granddaughter Jackie, at Ambassador Baptist College.

Through all the miles we drove your prayers for us were evident.  God protected us from harm and gave us a blessed time together as we traveled.

We would like to remind you to be in specific prayer for those we’ve written about recently.  A young Navajo man and the young man saved in July awaiting baptism.  They have not been faithful in services and ignoring encouragement from church members.  Please do remember the Barthels in prayer as they plan their arrival to take the pastorate November 4.

In His love and ours,

Dave and Becky DeFord
