DAVID & BECKY DEFORD ~ MARCH - MAY 2010 UPDATE

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                       Mar, Apr, May 2010

In these last three months we have moved from Globe to Mesa Arizona; and although we thought it would be the first week of March, it was more like the third week by the time we got all our things actually in Mesa.  It would be wonderful to say we are settled in, but that would be a stretch.  We do like our home and enjoy the location we are in.  It is close to our doctors and family.  The last of March and most of April we spent in painting and repairing a ceiling in the family room.

We were happy to have Harry Stone, one of our permanent A.S.S.I.S.T. missionaries visit us in April and former pastor of our home church, Dr. Felber.  We are always glad to have visitors to our home as well as those visiting the Indian ministries.

In early May Pastor Marshall Yazzie asked us to speak at their special Mother’s Day service.  We were excited to see 50+ folks who we had ministered among at the Baptist Indian Chapel.  Some of the young people we had not seen for several years.  That was a tremendous blessing to us.  Toward the end of May we traveled to Virginia and New Jersey.  It was good to see the folks at Victory Way again on a Wed. evening service, and in New Jersey it was good to meet new friends and speak at their annual Missions emphasis banquet centered on the theme of Native Americans.   On our way home we stopped in Indianapolis for an overnight with Harry Stone and a Wed. evening visit to Southeast Baptist Tabernacle.

Since our move to Mesa we have been attending Ferguson Memorial Baptist Church on the Salt River Reservation.  This is a sister Pima reservation to the Gila River. It is good to be with long-time missionary friends Steve and Treasa Fox.  He has pastored the church for 25 years.  We’ve have asked your prayers for Pastor Fox as he is undergoing chemo treatments for liver cancer.  David has been able to preach for him on his chemo weeks of treatment.  Please continue to pray for Pastor Fox and Treasa.

Prayer Requests:

Pastor Yazzie and folks at Baptist Indian Chapel

Pastor Barthel and folks at Gilson Wash Baptist

Marcus – recurring cancer

Pastor Fox – chemo treatments

Open doors of ministry and service

Praise for safe birth of Brian and Luann Shannon’s 2nd son

David’s continued healing, especially hands and feet

More laborers for the Indian fields (We’ve just heard of the need for a pastor for a group of folks in Oklahoma)

We are so grateful to each of you who faithfully pray and support the Indian ministry.

In His love and ours,

Dave and Becky DeFord    II Cor. 4:3
