Greetings from The Oven of the West,
As I write this, it is 107 degrees here, and yes that is hot even if it is a dry heat! But we're still about eight or nine degrees cooler than Phoenix, so we shouldn't complain!
The second week of August, we will be attending our mission board fellowship meeting. Each year it is held at a different location, as each missionary takes a turn hosting it at their church. This year will be most unusual, as it will be in Iowa where our Mission office is located. We are looking forward to the fellowship and hearing what God has been doing on the various reservations. Then we will travel on to Indiana for a quick visit with family and friends. We will also be presenting the ministry in three churches, one in Iowa, and two in Indiana. And of course, we'll make a stop along the way to see our Kansas kids! We would appreciate your prayers for safety in travel for all the missionaries.
One evening recently, we received a call from a woman asking us to come to her home for counselling. She had accepted the Lord several years ago, but her church attendance had gradually fallen off, she wasn't reading her Bible, problems mounted up, relationships were broken, and she had begun drinking again, and now she said she had hit bottom. We feel she was sincere in wanting to get right with the Lord and turn her life around. Please remember Lara in prayer.
We thank the Lord for each one of you who continue to pray for us. May God wonderfully bless you.
In Christ,
Gary & Beverly Messick
