Dear Ones in Christ,
Having just gone through the process of “tenting” our house to treat it for termites, and seeing the smoke from several forest fires that are burning here in our state, Matthew 6:19-21 comes to mind:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth (and termites) and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal (and fire burns up): But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
We are reminded that we are to “hold loosely” when it comes to the material things of life, and that we are to use all that we have for the glory of God.
In our last three prayer letters we have asked for prayer for a family in our church going through many sorrows. Their four-year old granddaughter had been killed by her babysitter, a cousin died after being shot, and we have just learned that a son living on the Gila River Reservation is in serious condition after being severely beaten by a group of teens. Please continue pray for the Beauty and Innis families.
We received a great blessing last month when Faith Baptist Church in Cottonwood purchased new chairs and donated their old ones to our church. They are in great condition, and our folk were so surprised and pleased to have them.
The week of July 6, the youth group from Calvary Baptist Church of Crawfordsville, IN. will be here for our VBS program. We are excited about what the Lord is going to do. Please pray that many good, life-changing decisions will be made during that week.
Thanks so much for your continued faithfulness to the Lord as you pray for us so that the work can continue among the Yavapai-Apache people. May God wonderfully bless you.
In Christ,
Gary & Beverly Messick
