Dear Co-laborers in Christ,
May saw things continue pretty much as usual at church. We continue to have occasional scheduling conflicts with others using the building. You may recall last year just such a problem arose a few days before our annual Mother/Daughter Banquet. And just like last year, we thought the calendar was cleared for us to use the building, but this year we were later told the tribal council wanted to use it for a special meeting on that day. Once again, the Lord met the need and we were allowed to use the beautiful tribal senior center building. Fourteen mothers and daughters attended, and it was a very special time for all.
An added blessing came from this “unexpected inconvenience.” Several weeks earlier, we learned that the air conditioner on our building had quit working and needed to be replaced. The tribal council has to consider and vote on any major expenditure like this. While the ladies were enjoying the banquet in a cool, air-conditioned building, the tribal council was meeting in our rather warm building. One of the items of business was the replacement of our air-conditioner, and it seems it didn't take them long to decide that was a good idea! How thankful we are to once again have a nice cool building in which to worship.
We recently read a devotional referring to the time God commanded Moses to strike the rock in the desert to get water for the thirsty Israelites. Moses' part was very small – just strike the rock. Anyone could have done it. The main thing was what God was doing. But the two worked together. The devotion went on to say,”There are always two agents in every fruitful work: willing workers and a faithful God.” Our part is to do whatever God asks us to do – strike the rock, God's work is to make the “water flow”. It takes a tremendous amount of pressure off to know that if we do our part, we can leave the rest in God's Hands. Thank you, fellow-workers, for being willing agents by your faithful prayer support. You are such a vital part of this ministry, and we don't take this for granted. May God bless you for your faithfulness.
In Him,
Gary & Beverly Messick
