Jay & Becky Shannon - Spring 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Fellowlabourers,

In our last letter, we told about Shawn getting saved and how she had gone to Albuquerque to attend school. She came home for spring break and came to church. On Sunday night she testified how wonderful it was to be saved. It was a real blessing. She said that because her dad had died when she was young and her mom who was an alcoholic had deserted her that she did not really believe there was a God. She went on to tell how good God had been to her and how thankful she was that she had come to church and heard the Gospel. There was not a dry eye in the church by the time she finished testifying. Continue to pray for Shawn.

Four young people have been saved in Cockleburr since our last letter. Their names are Joy, Sarah, Anna, and Alicia. In Ak Chin village Melissa was saved in April. She is in her thirties. Please pray for these new Christians, they all live in a rough environment at home.

Many of you who have visited the church will remember Lee Lewis. He got saved about 1997 and came to church faithfully for four or five years. The middle of February he came back to church. It is an encouragement to see him back serving the Lord.

In April, we had our eleventh annual camp meeting. We had several preachers from the East as well as a few from Arizona. The Lord gave us a great meeting. Thank you for praying.

June sixteenth, we will be taking the teens to camp and June thirtieth we will take the juniors to camp. Please pray for these two weeks of camp. This is a wonderful opportunity to have the young people away from the influence of the world for a few days and allow the Lord to work in their hearts.

There is still much violence among the youth on the reservation. Just a couple of weeks ago a group of them attacked some young people at their home in Chuichu and put two of them in the hospital. One young man lost his eye and a thirteen year old boy had a severe head injury. An article in the tribal newspaper listed Chuichu as the third most violent village on the reservation. These young people need the Lord.

Thank you for allowing us to be your missionaries and having the privilege to tell them of the One who can change their lives.

In Christ,
Jay and Becky Shannon
