Dear Friends in Christ,
What a full month this has been. Even though the weather has been a bit cool for the summer months, the calendar has a typical summer schedule for us.
Early in the month of June, our grand-daughter, Emily Carmichael was with us for a 10 day visit. Her desire was to ride into the Havasupai Canyon on horseback with Grandad. The swine flu scare had the trails closed to tourists for the month of May, but God was so good and answered our prayers so that the trails were open while she was here and she got her special trip.
Tuba City Baptist had their VBS this past month with attendance reaching the 90’s. A group from the Navajo Child Evangelism Fellowship (Navajo CEF) came to direct the program with the Church members working alongside them. The men in charge are sons of former Bible School students from Southwest School of Missions. It’s exciting to see children grow up and carry on the work of the ministry. We need to keep on training the younger generations to take our places. We’ve also been pleased to hear reports of good attendance at several other VBS programs being held in other Bible-believing churches in our area.
We also were saddened this past month as Faith Mountz (31 yrs old) suddenly passed away from heart failure. It took us by surprise as no-one seemed to realize she even had heart problems. Faith’s father is one of our former Bible School students and is pastoring in Kayenta on the Navajo Reservation. She left behind her husband of 5 ½ years and 3 little ones between the ages of 4 yrs and 2 months. She also left behind a clear Christian testimony. Another reminder that death awaits us all and to use the time we are given to share the Gospel with those around us. Please pray with us for Allistair Mountz as he raises these 3 babies alone.
As I write this letter, we are enjoying a visit from Sam Jr. who is now out of the Marines. Sam hasn’t been home for over 6 years now and it’s nice to have him back for a few days. His wife, Amber, is still in MD working at River Valley Ranch for the summer as Sam looks for a home and job. Let’s be praying for him to know just where the Lord wants them to locate.
Prayer Requests:
- Sam & Amber-the Lord’s direction in their lives and Amber’s summer camp ministry
- Tabi & Abi- grand-daughters on summer mission trips
- Our summer plans
Thank you for your prayers and your gifts.
In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
