Dear Friends in Christ,
The first two week-ends of this past month, we traveled west rather than the normal trip east to Tuba City. This time, we were headed for the Hualapai Reservation to the Peach Springs Baptist Church. It was a real treat to spend some time with these friends again. The pastor is our present Mission Director who needed to be gone for his daughter’s graduation from Bible College back in North Carolina.
We had been asked to be available for possibly filling in for another pastor the last two weeks of the month. This pastor had lost 2 sons in a tragic drowning and might need some time. However, the Lord gave him strength to keep going and we had a couple of free week-ends to rest up before we return to help out at Tuba City this month.
We are expecting a visit from another of our grand-daughters as she turns 12 this year and it is her turn to spend some time with us. We are looking forward to this time with Emily and hoping to take her by horseback into the Havasupai village at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. The trail had been closed due to the swine flu scare, but is scheduled to open again this month-hopefully before she has to return to her home in North Carolina.
We are also looking forward to another family visit later this month as Sam jr is leaving the Marine Corps and is hoping to look in the Colorado area for a home and job. Please pray for him and Amber as they make this change. Amber is going to work this summer at River Valley Ranch in Maryland as Sam scouts out Colorado.
We also have a couple of grand-daughters going on summer mission trips. Tabi and Abi Taylor are sisters and both headed for Malawi for much of the summer. However, the age difference will have them traveling separately and working in different capacities under Teen Missions International.
