Dear Friends in Christ,
It was the fall of 1972 when we packed up our family and headed for the southwestern US. It has become our home now and it’s hard to believe that it has been over 37 years. We’ve seen trials and triumphs over the years and have found our God to be faithful through them all. Our calendar isn’t as full as when we were younger, but we feel that our labor is more productive as the years increase. It seems that more often the Indian people come to us than we travel to them. Our plan is to continue to serve as long as He gives us service to do.
Early in October we were able to travel to Maryland to celebrate with the family as his Mom turned 90. During that trip, we were able to see some of our faithful supporters and prayer warriors from over the years. Thank you to each that helped us along the way.
As we traveled to Phoenix to catch a flight to MD, we were able to visit for a few minutes with Lydia Velduis. Lydia is the daughter of one of our missionaries working among the Cocopah people and is a student at International Bible College in Tempe, AZ. Jackie DeFord, daughter of Steve DeFord, our director and ministering to the Hualapai people, is also in Bible College in SC at Ambassador College. It’s a blessing to see the next generation preparing to serve our Lord.
Our fall hunt camp is now history. Zachary Pike, another of our missionary kids, whose father is working among the Sioux in S Dakota, was helping Sam this year. They had 4 other hunters that joined them. All of these men professed Christ as Saviour and together they did a study of the book of I Thessalonians during the evening Bible Study time. I’m sure Zach enjoyed his break from his home school courses and the time in the mountains of Colorado. Hopefully, he also learned that serving the Lord can actually be fun at times. His youthful energy, strength and willingness to work were a blessing. (He even helped us get our winter’s supply of firewood split before traveling home!)
This coming month, we have some Sunday meetings scheduled, as well as helping out with the Navajo Pastor’s Conference coming up in the middle of the month. Please pray with us that we are a help and encouragement to the Native Pastors on the Navajo Reservation. It encourages us to see men that we have helped train that are still faithfully preaching the Word of God.
Prayer Requests:
Our “MK’s”
* Lydia and Jackie - studying for future ministry -as well as the others that are growing up on a mission field.
* Their parents as they are home-schooling - while still ministering among the Indian people.
* The WNBF Pastor’s Conference-Nov 13-14
In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
