Sam & Janet Grammer ~ October 2011 update

Dear Friends in Christ,

This past month we took a couple of weeks off for a vacation.  Janet went home to Flagstaff and enjoyed being a housewife again as she cleaned up the dirt that has collected over the months. She also enjoyed cleaning up around the outside of the house.  It may not seem like much of a vacation to you, but she enjoyed the more normal pace of life after several months of “camping”.

Meanwhile, Sam took a trip to British Columbia where he was able to shoot a nice moose.  Some of you that enjoy hunting have already seen some of the pictures.  But if you missed them and want to see them, just let us know.  If you wonder what it tastes like, give us a call and we’ll set a time to have you over for a meal!

Once home, we took the moose antlers to a taxidermist that I’ve worked with at times over the years.  When I shared the Gospel with Steve, he let me know that he had heard this all before and wasn’t interested.  It was brought up at different times with no change of heart.  Sadly, one week after we last saw him, Steve died suddenly at the age of 57.  What a reminder to us that we need to be occupied in sharing the wonderful message whenever the Lord opens the door of opportunity-not just in “ministry” but in whatever we are doing as we walk through this life.  If they never accept Christ, we’ve been faithful and won’t have to regret not speaking to them of our Lord.

Some that Sam hunted with are part of the Tahltan tribe in Canada and there is no fundamental ministry among these people.  There were opportunities to witness to several that he was hunting with and we plan to send out a Bible to one.  Pray with us that this Bible will remind him of the conversations and encourage him to read it and find the message for himself.

We have enjoyed this past year with the Navajo Fellowship Baptist Church in Page.  We aren’t seeing a great growth in attendance, but we are seeing spiritual growth in those that do attend.  Their sensitivity to the teaching and preaching and desire to do what pleases God is evident. The time spent studying God’s Word is always profitable and we have been strongly encouraging them to commit to a daily devotional time and family devotions. Praise God, several have shared how they are implementing this in their daily routine.

This past week, a young girl shared with us how she had recently accepted Christ.  Her parents have been requesting prayer for her and her brother for several weeks now.  What a thrill to see her parents recognizing the need and then watching God answer this prayer!

At present, this body of Believers can’t pay the salary of a full-time pastor and therefore needs a missionary pastor.  Thank you for your help in meeting our financial needs so that we can minister in Page.  We do appreciate you folks.  Knowing you are praying for us is a true blessing.

In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
