Sam & Janet Grammer ~ June 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends in Christ,

AVAILABLE That seems to describe our ministry for the past couple of months. The calendar has little scheduled on it, but we have been busy-just being available. Available to answer the phone with folks wanting encouragement or counsel. Available to visit a family member that is in the Flagstaff jail. Available to supply a bed for the night to friends and family who are in town because someone is in the hospital. A family wanting some Biblical guidance for problems in their home. Just being available to meet needs of brothers and sisters in Christ.

Other than Janet's weekly Ladies' Bible Study in our home, there has been little "scheduled" ministry. This coming month appears to be different with the addition of weekend opportunities to teach and preach for Sam.

Without your support, we wouldn't be able to be available throughout the week, nor would we be able to do the travel that is needed when we drive to the various reservations to serve. Thank you to each of you that have a part in our ministry here in Arizona.

Besides opportunities to preach on Sundays, Sam has been asked to officiate as a Navajo couple renew their wedding vows. This family has been an encouragement to us as we've watched them growing in the Lord. She lost her wedding band at work and wants to replace it. They decided to celebrate their anniversary by renewing their vows and use the new band. Much of their family are not Believers, so this is another opportunity to give the Gospel and give instruction as to the Biblical standards of a Christian home.

A repeat class on ordination is also scheduled for another Saturday this month, on the Navajo reservation with the Western Navajo Bible Fellowship (WNBF). This was done in April, but 2 large funerals were held on the same day and the attendance was down. Those who did attend the class felt that it was a very helpful session and it was decided to do it again. Sam covers the purpose of ordination and how it is done, as well as the preparation of a doctrinal statement.

Sam has also been busy during May with some repairs on our home and replenishing our wood supply for this coming winter. In mid-May we were surprised to wake up to over a foot of snow on the ground and on the trees that were already leafing out and in blossom! We had more snow and rain mixed this past week, but none that  accumulated much around the house. Hard to believe that we are in the middle of spring with summer just a few weeks away. The weather sure doesn't look like it! That's what happens in the mountains at 7,000 ft above sea level.

Please continue to pray for our son, Sam jr., serving our country in Afghanistan and for his wife, Amber while he's away.

Pray for the summer ministry teams that will be coming west to help our Indian churches with VBS programs and building maintenance. Just last night, we had a group that had to cancel their trip as travel costs soar and their leader has some serious health problems that need to be looked into.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and giving as we minister together for our Lord.

In Christ,
Sam & Janet Grammer
