Dear Friends in Christ,
Matthew 2:1-2 “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judae’a in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”
The wise men from the east after much effort were rewarded for their search for the King not only the King of Israel but of the whole world. They understood the implication of the star that this was the coming ruler, the Messiah; God manifested in the flesh, God with us. Not only did they trust God to lead them to the new born King but also to be kept away from the one who sought to destroy him. The wise men trusted that God was well able to care for the child who came to be the Savior of all who would seek him then and today.
From August 3 bi-weekly through November 23, 2008 I was on radio broadcast on KOHN 91.9 FM. During this period I taught from Revelation chapter 14 thru Revelation chapter 17. This study has proven to be not only a great challenge but rewarding for me. It truly always is a tremendous benefit to the teacher when digging in to the word of God. On December 21, 2008 I will be broadcasting a Christmas message for the Christian broadcast listeners of KOHN.
How much we give thanks to all who have been in prayer for our son Cornelius and my mom Isabel. Cornelius is no longer on any medications or doctor’s care and is able to do any normal physically actions. Also for my mom, she is now eating very regularly and her strength has improved so that she can get around and travel without any discomfort. And thank-you for your prayer for Don and Lillian Mendez for their recent lost of their granddaughter.
On August 3 through 6, 2008 we enjoyed nightly services conducted by the Bethel Baptist Church youth ministry out of Amherst, Virginia. Youth Pastor Scott Flowe was our speaker nightly here at Vamori IBC. Brother John Coleman out of Rincon Baptist Church Tucson, AZ was the host for our visiting church youth group. The group stayed at the accommodations of Papago Baptist Church in Sells. The youth group with approximately twenty in their number ministered at the Tohono O'odham Nation’s nursing home daily located at Ak-Chin community and past out gospel literature in Sells and in the community of Topawa. Pastor Flowe was my guest speaker on the Christian Broadcast on Sunday August 3, 2008 and brought a challenging message to the radio listeners of KOHN from the book of Jonah.
On December 7, 2008 I conducted a funeral service when ask by the family for a cousin of mine who passed away very suddenly. Sharon was on travel on job related training in Prescott, Arizona and was found in her room deceased. Be in prayer for the Norris family she leaves behind four young adult children Tony, Sean, Darnell and Sasha.
As the Christmas and the New Year season is quickly approaching we thank the Lord for the opportunity to have served our Lord in the year 2008.
May the Lord richly bless all of you in this wonderful Christmas season and into the New Year.
God bless you all,
Gordon Garcia, Pastor
Vamori Independent Baptist Church
