Dear Prayer Partners, Dec. 2009 update
We want to thank each of you who have called, sent cards, given gifts and upheld us up in prayer this past month. We are truly grateful to you for your kindnesses and thoughtfulness on our behalf.
Beginning the first of December David started teaching Genesis in the adult Sunday School class. There is so much to glean from the foundation set forth in the first chapters, so he is teaching slowly through the book.
On the 8th of December, David’s mother went home to be with the Lord. We are so grateful that all the family was able to visit with her within the last two weeks of her life here. She was 91 years old and in very poor health, but we are sure she knew them as they visited with her. We, along with our sons, made a very fast trip to Spencer, Indiana for her internment. Steve conducted the graveside service and each one of them was a great encouragement to us. We all got to visit with family members and friends that we don’t get to see very often.
Later in the month we took part in the Christmas play presented by the teens at Gilson Wash. They did a great job of presenting the biblical account of the birth of Jesus. Please pray for these dear young people as they are bombarded daily with the worldly and ungodly situations thrown at them. There is tremendous potential in their lives for God’s service and we are praying they make their life-changing decisions based on the biblical principles they are being taught.
David has had much improvement in his health and gaining strength in his arms and hands on a weekly basis; so much so that his neurologist has discontinued the prescribed six months treatment of infusions after the December treatment. He is on an oral prescription medication that hopefully will diminish the possibility of further occurrences of the GBS. Thank you for your prayers for his improvement.
Prayer Requests:
- Young people at Gilson Wash Baptist Church
- David’s continued improvement in health
- Gilson Wash Faith-Promise Missions program
- Very probable physical move in early Spring closer
- to family and doctors
In His love and ours,
Dave and Becky DeFord II Cor. 4:3
