October:
Upon arriving home from the Midwest we made arrangements for David to see the neurologist because of pain and numbness in both arms especially his hands. The doctor changed the Gillian - Barre Syndrome diagnosis of 2007 to CIDP which is the chronic form of GBS, since the symptoms have reoccurred. His hands, arms and fingers have been affected rather than the legs and feet which he experienced in 2007. The doctor has prescribed six months of IVIG treatments as well as a new medication. Each treatment covers a two day period each month. We are very grateful these can be done at home rather than in a hospital.
Later in the month we visited Steve and Sherry and their church family for the annual Harvest Banquet at the Hualapai Baptist Church of Peach Springs. A large part of the church is young couples with bunches of little ones. The potential and enthusiasm in the body there is tremendous. It is always a joy to be with this dear church family and our family as well.
Becky began teaching one of our little Apache girls this month. She comes to our home twice a week and is already reading short vowel words, adding numbers, plus memorizing Bible verses. She is a blessing and a quick learner at 4 years old.
November:
The first week of November we spent at Ambassador Baptist College in their annual Missions Conference. We decided to fly instead of drive for this trip. The entire conference was a great encouragement to us as was the hospitality and graciousness of the staff, faculty and students. We pray the Lord will call a number of these students to the Indian fields of the western United States. Many young people expressed a sincere interest in the RSVP opportunities during the summer.
The Faith-Promise Missions Conference at Gilson Wash Baptist Church was the middle of the month, and although this is a new concept for the church it was well received. It is exciting to think of what the Lord will do in our church family as we expand our missionary endeavors across the world.
