David and Becky DeFord ~ April-May Update

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                        April May 2009 update

We thank you all for your prayers for the ministry here and for us personally. In our last letter we asked prayer especially for Ethel Bullis. She continues in declining health now with congestive heart failure. We asked prayer as well for Steve Fox. He is now on chemo therapy. Michael Veldhuis has been one of IBIMI missionaries since 1986. After a heart attack and quad bypass, he is now home and doing well.  Please continue to pray for these as the Lord reminds you.

Easter Sunday Pastor Barthel baptized three new converts in the side yard of the church. One of the deacons of the church is a fireman with the forestry department and was able to obtain the use of a big tank used (normally) to fill helicopters in the fighting of fires. It was unique! Two of the women baptized joined in the membership of Gilson Wash Baptist Church May 31.

In April Becky went with Bev Messick (Yavapai Apache Baptist Church) and their ladies to Flagstaff for the Women’s Conference.   It was good to have the fellowship of these ladies.

May was filled with activity surrounding Mother’s Day and several graduations. It also marked the closing of the Gilson Wash Baptist Academy. Enrollment had declined and with one of the students graduating from the eighth grade as well, the school board recommended the closure.

Please be in prayer for:
VBS – Gilson Wash – June 15-19 Becky will be teaching 2 and 3 yr olds.
Hualapai Baptist at Peach Springs – June 22-26   We’ll be helping Steve and Sherry with cooking there.
Ethel Bullis
Steve Fox
Michael Veldhuis

Thank you each and every one whoremembers us in prayer and for your financial partnership in taking the gospel to the Native American folks. We look forward to seeing many of you later this summer as the Lord directs.

In His love and ours,
Dave and Becky DeFord II Cor. 4:3
