Dave & Becky DeFord ~ April 2008 Prayer Letter

March was a month with multiple blessings as well as sadness. On the 13th we traveled to Peach Springs, Arizona to meet our youngest son, Steve, as he candidated on the Hualipai Reservation. The following week the church there called him to be their pastor. So their family will be moving there later this Spring or early Summer. In our absence Ken Lynch ministered at Gilson Wash. We arrived home the 17th and immediately prepared for a baptismal service the coming weekend.

Easter morning we had our regular services at church then as a church family traveled to Warm Springs (an area about 30 miles into the mountains) to have our baptismal service followed by a picnic and an afternoon of good fellowship together. Seven followed the Lord in believer’s baptism; a man and wife along with their 7 year old daughter, and four young people 11 years old to high school age. David was grateful for the able help of one of our deacons, Virgil Bendle, in the baptizing. It was a wonderful Easter Sunday.

On the 27th David was asked to preach the funeral service for one of the young ladies we worked with at the Baptist Indian Chapel. She was a 27 year old wife, and mother of 3 young children. She made a profession of faith several years ago and had grown steadily for a time, but unfortunately, had returned to the world. Please pray for this family, they are going to need some real encouragement.

We would ask your prayers as well for David. The pain and swelling continue to be very uncomfortable in his feet and that adds to the lack of balance he already experiences. The next appointment with the neurologist is in April. Other than the above mentioned problems, he is doing well.

We are very grateful for your continued support and prayers for us and the ministries of the Mission. Please keep the need of a permanent pastor for Gilson Wash in your prayers.

In His love and ours,
Dave and Becky
