Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                       Jan- Feb 2010 update

In the two months of 2010 we have already had much activity in ministry as well as personally. We are grateful for your prayers for us in both these areas.

In January it was good to have the ministry team from International Baptist College at Gilson Wash Baptist. They presented a great program and were a blessing to the church folks. February brought us Dr. Glen and Mary Jaspers for the annual Valentine Banquet and then again for services on the 15th. They are such an encouragement to all the IBIMI sister churches and we count it a real blessing to be with them.

Dear Prayer Partners, Dec. 2009 update

We want to thank each of you who have called, sent cards, given gifts and upheld us up in prayer this past month. We are truly grateful to you for your kindnesses and thoughtfulness on our behalf.

Beginning the first of December David started teaching Genesis in the adult Sunday School class. There is so much to glean from the foundation set forth in the first chapters, so he is teaching slowly through the book.

Dear Prayer Partners,
October-November 2009 Update

October:

Upon arriving home from the Midwest we made arrangements for David to see the neurologist because of pain and numbness in both arms especially his hands. The doctor changed the Gillian - Barre Syndrome diagnosis of 2007 to CIDP which is the chronic form of GBS, since the symptoms have reoccurred. His hands, arms and fingers have been affected rather than the legs and feet which he experienced in 2007. The doctor has prescribed six months of IVIG treatments as well as a new medication. Each treatment covers a two day period each month. We are very grateful these can be done at home rather than in a hospital.

Dear Prayer Partners

This update letter is being written from a Midwestern farm where splashes of color, ripened soybeans, cornfields, and cool mornings are a very present reminder that Autumn has arrived. We are staying here as we near the end of our two month trip that has included our IBIMI annual Mission Retreat in Keokuk, Iowa and  reporting to supporting churches in Colorado, Iowa and Indiana. The Retreat time was a very special blessing in many ways. Nine of our missionary families were able to be in attendance this year and everyone remarked at the hospitality of First Baptist Church in Wayland, MO., the encouraging messages of Dr. Dave Jaspers and the accomodations and meals of hosting individual families.

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                      June-July 2009 update

June and July historically have been two of the busiest months of the year for us and this year fit equally into that description.

VBS in June at Gilson Wash was very well attended reaching into the 60’s. One teen girl expressed her desire to be saved, but has not returned. Please remember to pray for her as the Lord brings her to remembrance that she will come into services and opportunity will be opened to talk with her once again.

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                        April May 2009 update

We thank you all for your prayers for the ministry here and for us personally. In our last letter we asked prayer especially for Ethel Bullis. She continues in declining health now with congestive heart failure. We asked prayer as well for Steve Fox. He is now on chemo therapy. Michael Veldhuis has been one of IBIMI missionaries since 1986. After a heart attack and quad bypass, he is now home and doing well.  Please continue to pray for these as the Lord reminds you.

Dear Prayer Partners

In early February we traveled to Eagle Pass, Texas to visit with IBIMI missionaries Don and Elaine Stephens. It was a blessing to preach in their a.m. and p.m. services on the 8th. We had planned to take a one day side trip on our way home with Don and Elaine following us as far as Fredricksburg, TX., but on our way in Hondo, TX., our car was hit and totaled. No one was injured and after renting a car in San Antonio we returned home as did the Stephens’. After receiving an insurance settlement later in the month we were able to purchase another car March 3.

Dear Prayer Partners,

February 2009 Since we did not get out a letter in January, we will try to get caught up this month. On December 28 and January 4, we were at Peach Springs Arizona on the Hualapai (wall-a-pie) Reservation filling the pulpit for Steve as they visited Sherry’s family for Christmas. It was so good to be with these folks. There is a good mix of ages and all are enthusiastic and desirous to study and learn. They were a blessing to us.

November began for us with a much anticipated service with the Yavapai/Apache Baptist Church in Camp Verde. Pastor Gary Messick has been faithfully teaching the congregation and going through their statement of faith. They organized their assembly and opened their charter membership November 2. It was a blessing to be a part of that service.

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                                                     November 2008 update

Last month in our update letter we asked that you be in prayer for two men, a young Navajo man and the young man saved in July waiting to be baptized. The Lord has worked in the young man’s heart that had earlier expressed his desire to be baptized. He has been faithful this past month in most all the services. Sometimes his work schedule keeps him away. We wanted to bring this to your attention to encourage your faithfulness in prayer for these folks. God wants our prayers, He delights in our prayers and He answers our prayers!
