Dear Friends in Christ,

Last month, we shared with you how a careless camper started a forest fire that burned over 15,000 acres across the mountains in front of our house. The loss of vegetation has created another threat for our area-flash floods. For the past week, sandbags & “wattles” (long straw tubes) have been available for the “danger” zones. There are 3 levels and we are considered to be in the third and lowest level.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Many of you have asked for more information about the radio station project in Thorne Bay, Alaska. The location is on Prince of Wales Island in southeast Alaska.

Dear Friends,

I Peter 1:18-19  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold,...But with the precious blood of Christ,....

Praise the Lord, the blood of Christ still redeems the lost.  Steve was recently blessed to lead one of the young men from church to the Lord.  Chance is one of our home-school young people, but had never accepted Christ as his Savior.  Steve spoke with him a few time during the last school year regarding his need, but he was not ready to be saved.  A few weeks ago during the invitation at church he raised his hand for salvation.  Later that evening, Steve and Chance's dad met with him and he was gloriously saved.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Some of you have been following the news! Several of you have called or e-mailed to find out how we are doing with the forest fire in Flagstaff. It started around 11:30 A.M. on Father’s Day and by 4:00 the news was reporting that over 4,000 acres were burning. That was 5 days ago and the latest report was 15,000 acres with expectations that it will be well over 20,000 before it’s over. 1,000 firemen from around the state are working on it and may well be at it for the next couple of weeks. They are estimating that they have it 40% under control but it is still burning in some very rough terrain and difficult to access it.

Dear Friends in Christ,

Did you miss us? Instead of writing our monthly letter last month, we were on the road, driving back to New York and then on to Pennsylvania. We were in two churches each Sunday and then another church for Wednesday night prayer meeting for the entire month of May. It has been a long time since we’ve seen some of you folks and we tried to visit as many of our churches as possible during our time in the east.

Dear Prayer Partners,                                                                                       Mar, Apr, May 2010

In these last three months we have moved from Globe to Mesa Arizona; and although we thought it would be the first week of March, it was more like the third week by the time we got all our things actually in Mesa.  It would be wonderful to say we are settled in, but that would be a stretch.  We do like our home and enjoy the location we are in.  It is close to our doctors and family.  The last of March and most of April we spent in painting and repairing a ceiling in the family room.

Dear Supporting Church Families & Friends,

March and April were very busy and exciting months for us here in Arizona! We are thankful for all the Lord has allowed us to be involved in. Here are a few of the highlights.

March wrapped up one of the most wet winters we have experienced here in the desert! Because of the rain (and flooding & mud that follows), we were forced to cancel two services in Ak-Chin and one in Cockleburr. We are thankful for the rain, and thankful for the road work that has been done since, to help alleviate the problem. On a sad note from Ak-Chin, in April, a 30 year old young man hung himself. It is so sad to see this same story play out time after time – the drugs and alcohol lead to such a hopeless and dim life. Pray for us as we try to point them to the “Difference-maker!” We are thankful for the opportunity we had during April to take part in the Gu-Achi District Day festival, where we handed out over 400 tracts and other information from the church! Please pray that it will be used by the Lord! One of the ladies from the church in Ak-Chin has had recent back and neck surgery, and is also dealing with problems at home. Please pray for Mrs. Mary.

Dear Praying Friends,

"But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun." Exodus 17:12

Thank each of you for "holding up our hands" through your prayers, letters and cards, and financial support. We have been going through the book of Exodus at church and the previous verse expresses our thoughts toward you.

Dear Friends in Christ,

We just had a visit from a young Navajo man who is actively involved in training teachers to work with children.  He trains young teens and then gets them immediately involved in VBS and Bible Clubs in various churches on the Reservation.  He was telling us how the teens are now coming to him to find how they can be used.  This man’s parents were former students of ours many years ago.  What an encouragement it was to see the next generation carrying on the work of the ministry.   As we visited, he was quite reserved, until he began to talk of his work and then his enthusiasm was very evident.  It was a blessing to see his love for our Lord.  We did not personally train him, but had a part in it through his parents; just as you also had a part in it by helping us stay on the field with your prayers and gifts.  Thank you.
